❤️ What It Is
Heartsaver® CPR/AED & First Aid is a course developed by the American Heart Association (AHA) that teaches basic life-saving skills for laypeople (non-medical professionals). It's ideal for anyone who needs certification for work, such as teachers, security guards, coaches, childcare providers, and the general public.
🧠 What You Learn
1. First Aid
- Recognizing medical emergencies (e.g., heart attack, stroke, bleeding, allergic reactions)
- Treating wounds, sprains, burns, and shock
- Handling injuries related to heat/cold, poisoning, and seizures
- Use of an epinephrine pen (EpiPen®)
2. CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
- Adult, child, and infant CPR techniques
- Delivering rescue breaths and chest compressions
- Recognizing cardiac arrest and acting quickly
3. AED (Automated External Defibrillator)
- What an AED is and how to safely use one
- Hands-on practice applying pads and delivering a shock
✅ Certification
- Typically valid for 2 years
- Includes hands-on skills practice and a written or skills assessment
- Participants receive an official AHA Heartsaver eCard after successful completion
